The BIS is currently recruiting for the position of Legal Counsel (institutional matters). We are interested in meeting Swiss-trained candidates with at least five years of relevant work experience.

You will join a small group of lawyers responsible for advising on a large variety of legal issues relating to the Bank’s operations and governance. This will include advising on the Bank’s status as an international organisation, its relationship with Switzerland as its host country, certain banking operations conducted by the Bank and employment-related matters, as well as a wide range of contractual issues with suppliers and other third parties.

You have a law degree from a recognised Swiss university and have worked in a top law firm or in the legal department of a large corporate, an international organisation or a central bank. Experience in public international law would be an advantage. You have excellent spoken and written English and knowledge of at least one of the Swiss national languages.
