Position Purpose

Under overall supervision of the Financial Controller and technical guidance of the Principal Officers, the Officer (Loan Administration) provides specialized support that ensures best servicing of the loan agreements in compliance with the internal procedures of the Bank. The Officer’s (Loan Administration) responsibilities comprise compiling loans data, processing disbursements and repayments, handling the correspondence for the loans portfolio.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

The duties of the Officer (Loan Administration) are related to documenting, disbursing and servicing highly complex documents drafted in English that might be related to bilateral/ syndicated loans for project/trade finance or equity participations. The Officer cooperates with other units in the Bank for processing disbursements, provides specialized technical input for drafting the final loan documentation that includes proper terms and conditions and generates the correspondence for the loan’s portfolio. The Officer may be involved in on-the-job training and providing technical guidance to the Senior Associates.

More specifically the Officer:

  • Handles the loans documentation by interpreting and applying the provisions of the loans, constantly creating and updating in an accurate manner the required data in the SAP Loans Management Module (capturing loans contracts, input of interest rates, repayment schedules, fees, commissions, etc.) in accordance with the internal procedures of the Bank.
  • Performs general loans administration duties including processing loans disbursements using SAP Loans Management Module and SWIFT, determines interest rate fixing, generates reminders for repayments, handles the inquiries made by the customers.
  • Processes and monitors the loan repayments, rollovers, transfers, cancellations, prepayments, performs input of amended conditions for rescheduled loans into SAP system in accordance with the internal procedures of the Bank.
  • Participates in teams involved in preparation of preliminary documentation for banking operations (term sheet, draft loan agreements, etc) by providing specialized technical input for the final financing agreements.
  • Performs various accounting processes that deal with monthly accounting closings (verification of interest accruals, deferrals of fees, revaluation of loans in foreign currency, etc).
  • Prepares SWIFT messages for transfer of funds and repayment notifications for loans.
  • Assists in providing information during External Audits, when required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • First-level University degree in Finance/Banking/Economics; or a first- level University degree in Mathematics/Computer Science /Engineering followed by a postgraduate degree in Finance/Banking/Economics.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience gained in a prominent international financial institution in a loan administrator role handling English-drafted loan documentation for syndicated and bilateral transactions.
  • Demonstrated exposure to large scale international financial transactions to include project and trade finance in foreign currency and other international banking activities.
  • Thorough understanding of the loans administration function.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Working experience with ERP software such as SAP, specifically with Financial Accounting, Controlling and Loans Management modules, would be an asset.
  • SWIFT payments experience (ability to prepare SWIFT messages MT103 and MT 202) is desirable.
  • Understanding the application of the IFRS accrual accounting principle for recording loans transactions; ability to interpret accounts linked to loans.
  • Demonstrate resilience to increasingly work volumes and able to cope under pressure, resolve practical matters in an efficient manner.
  • Must be able to work independently and productively and should be able to prioritize assignments as per their significance.

For a candidate to participate in the competitive selection for this position, s/he must meet at least the following minimum requirements:

  • First-level University degree in Finance/Banking/Economics; or a first- level University degree in Mathematics/Computer Science /Engineering followed by a postgraduate degree in Finance/Banking/Economics.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience gained in a prominent international financial institution in a loan administrator role.
