Director of Co-Location Centre (CLC) North-East

Location :

She or he will be based in the Co-Location Centre (CLC) North-East in Warsaw, Poland. Business travel (up to 10 days per month) within Europe can be expected.

Manager/supervisor: The CLC Director will report to the Supervisory Board of CLC (as the President of the management board of the EIT Food CLC North-East sp. z o.o.) and to the CEO of EIT Food as member of Extended Management Team (MT) of EIT Food

Expected start date:

The successful candidate will be expected to start working for CLC North-East from 1st August, 2018 and take over the duties from the interim CLC director at the same date.

Main duties/responsibilities:

• Steer the EIT Food CLC North-East sp. z o.o. (CLC limited company) in an entrepreneurial manner, be the spokesperson of the CLC and lead daily operations

• Possess full responsibility for CLC legal entity

• Advance the EIT Food brand and perception by your vision and its application

• Strategic business development of the CLC

• Develop a business strategy for the CLC in order to become in a mid-term financially independent from the EIT grant

• Steer the CLC aspects of the EIT Food Business Plan and manage the corresponding assets

• Building up the staff of CLC (Program Managers and Office Manager)

• Responsibility for the CLC staff

• High level representative of CLC towards the EIT Food

• Ensure and lead the cooperation with the several core and network partners within the CLC

• Responsible for the strategic communication of CLC, especially for setting the EIT Food brand within the local food eco-system

• Coordinate and posses financial, administrative and legal issues at CLC level

• Coordinate with his/her respective colleagues across the other CLC’s and at EIT Food level in order to define, create and grow maximum synergies and opportunities for collaboration and for activity portfolio development, as well as to support the joint reporting and monitoring activities, required to fulfil FoodConnects objectives.

 

Key skills and experiences:

Qualifications

• Relevant academic degree: Masters level or higher in a relevant food business or science discipline or equivalent professional experience/qualifications

• Food innovation / business manager with minimally 6 – 8 years of experience in managing innovation units, with industry background

• Experience in universitary affairs, project management and public funding systems • Proven abiliy to create and push start-up businesses

• Academic background in food / business and Knowledge of KIC / EIT structures and landscape is a plus, but not a prerequisite

Experience

• Strong experience in development and implementation of Food innovation / business strategies in interaction with universities, industry and research institutes

• Proven ability to lead a team of professional staff and engage a broad array of individuals

• Demonstrated experience in budget management and raising funds

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders 3 The following will be a plus for the application:

• Experienced in managing and operating a legal entity, including finance, HR and legal matters

• Strong experience in strategic planning and execution

• Strong experience in international collaboration

Skills

• Extensive and relevant people network in the food sector

• Team worker with excellent leadership and communication skills that can operate on strategic level with national partners as well as with other EIT Food members

• Excellent communication and public relations skills

• Fluent English in speech and writing, ideally plus one other foreign language, preferably Polish or Finnish
