The EU is looking for Data Protection Specialists
The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) is looking for motivated data protection specialists with expertise and professional experience in the field of data protection in public administration. Based in Brussels and operating throughout Europe and the world, the EDPS is the EU’s independent supervisory authority responsible for ensuring that the European Union institutions and bodies respect data protection law.
As a data protection specialist, you will be preparing reports, opinions and decisions with a view to ensuring the interpretation and application of data protection regulation and legislation as well as monitoring policy and legislative developments relating to the protection of personal data. You will be part of protecting and guaranteeing the fundamental rights to data protection and privacy. This means getting your hands on some of the most challenging and demanding issues in the field. The duties may require travel.
To apply, you need a university degree of at least 3 years in law or in another field followed by at least 3 years of professional experience in the legal field of which at least half must have been primarily in the development or application of data protection law in public administration. Additionally, you must be an EU citizen with a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the EU and at least a satisfactory knowledge of English or French.
