Established as a consultative body in the founding Treaties, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) strengthens the European Union’s democratic legitimacy and effectiveness by harnessing the expertise of its members. Our 329 stakeholders represent employers, workers and civil society from across the continent to evaluate legislative proposals, policies and issues affecting the people of Europe. With around 700 staff and a budget of some €160 million, we issue between 160 and 190 reports and opinions a year and are a substantial and influential organisation with a vital role to play.

Your responsibilities:

  • Taking ownership of our general secretariat, you will ensure that our administrative functions are performed to the highest standards, thus enabling us to enjoy maximum impact on decision-making.
  • Expanding our network of contacts and increasing our visibility.
  • Continuously developing our working culture in line with evolving technology and best practice.
  • Assisting the President in conducting meetings and representing the EESC to external bodies.
  • Managing relationships with a broad spectrum of EU institutions.

Your skills:

  • Extensive professional experience in senior leadership positions.
  • Thorough knowledge of the EU’s operational structure and policies.
  • Broad understanding of financial management and budgetary control.
  • Outstanding problem-solving, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to develop long-term strategies to address complex operational, legal, administrative and financial challenges.
  • Fluency in both English and French.
