Key Accountabilities

Guide, oversee and support WFP and government school feeding programmes
  • Contribute towards the development of a wide variety of school feeding projects, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with corporate policies/strategies and regional guidance;
  • Research and analyze policy and operational challenges of school feeding programmes in MENA and CIS sub-regions and support RBC and country office colleagues in the development of policies, programmes and activities;
  • Support country offices in the implementation of various capacity strengthening activities at the national and institutional level and provide policy advice in the area of school feeding and its contribution to human capital;
Position WFP and government school feeding programmes in contribution to SDG4: education outcomes, especially in emergencies, and related strategic partnerships:
  • Strengthen the integration of school feeding in the different Education Cluster/Local Education Group strategies/plans and education-related funds, Initiatives and Programmes such as SDG4 Arab Region, Education Cannot Wait (ECW), Global Partnership for Education (GPE), No Lost Generation (NLG), Life Skills and Citizenship Education (LSCE), etc;
  • Contribute to the SF “digital innovation” workstream, including (but not limited to) joint EMIS systems development with UNESCO/UNICEF and governments;
  • Provide comments and contribute to the content of various regional reports and make sure WFP is strategically positioned and school feeding operations along with their multidimensional benefits are reflected;
Knowledge management 
  • Encourage and ensure knowledge exchange on solid school feeding practices across the region and globally.
  • Support WFP regional bureau participation in different regional events in collaboration with other UN agencies and other regional actors, through production of various presentations, case studies, talking points and/or intervention/panel design;
  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals, progress and analytical reports, presentations, briefs, visibility material and information products corporately and for donors.
  • Other duties as required

Standard Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or another field relevant to international development assistance
  • At least 5 years of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience in international development (more specifically, design and implementation of educational programmes), or other related fields
  • Fluency in both oral and written communication English & Arabic
Knowledge & Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously independently
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, plan and manage programmes, good negotiation and advocacy skills
  • Ability to work in a team and establish effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office are required
